The Center for Tattoo History and Culture brings together the world’s foremost scholars and tattoo enthusiasts to create, encourage, and promote sound scholarship about tattooing from both academics and nontraditional scholars alike. We aim to support a wide range of constituencies including students at all levels, independent researchers, faculty, journalists and other media workers, tattoo artists, and collectors.
We plan to offer a variety of educational services including direct funding to scholars (including those outside academia) and support for students. As a hub for aggregating scholarly material about tattoo history and culture, far-flung resources will be united in one convenient, virtually accessible location. Our collaboration with expert scholars in the field of tattooing ensures a comprehensive knowledge base and interdisciplinary approach.
